The Kulkwitzer sea (short "Kulki") 
is a part of suburban area of Leipzig (Grünau) 
and was a old brown coal open pit. 
After the closing of the open pit, 
was it a plan to use it for a recreation area 
close to the new suburban district Grünau.
The official opening was in the year 1973. 
Since they was enlarge all the time.
