Ferropolis (the city of iron) is a museum 
and a event-location near Gräfenhainichen 
in the east of Dessau on a peninsula  in the old open pit Golpa-Nord.
After the closing of the open pit, 
Ferropolis oped in the year 1995 as a museum with five excavators for brown coal.
